Tea Party

Since Collin is so tall, he can easily climb up into chairs and couches and back down and has for some time. It's actually kind of nice because he doesn't get frustrated by not being able to climb up and I don't have to worry too much when he gets down because it's easy for his long body. We have a rocking chair in our living room and it has become the boys' chair.....when Max isn't sleeping in it anyway. Whenever Benjamin is sitting in the rocking chair, Collin comes toddling over and climbs up with his big brother. Usually he brings a book for them to look at together too. Benjamin and Anna are both really sweet about looking at books with Collin (he really loves books right now).

Saturday morning fun with Daddy included making their fort again. I was getting some much needed extra sleep.....too bad "sleeping in" for me usually means sleeping until 8:30 these days.

I like Collin's expressions in these.

Later that day was a very special event. We were going to a tea party! I had told the kids about it weeks before and they were so excited....especially Benjamin. He counted down the days on the calendar and excitedly talked about it all the time. They were to dress up for the tea party which made the excitement even greater!

They had lots of yummy food for them including chocolate covered strawberries which Anna was very excited about!

When it was time for them to go up and do some stories, songs, and dancing, both were pretty shy. Benjamin went up with some encouraging. Anna still wasn't feeling the greatest and felt overwhelmed by the crowd of people. This is the expression she makes when she's shy/overwhelmed. Grandma came to go with us to the tea party which made it even more fun for the kids.

I moved my seat close to where Benjamin was sitting for the story which got Anna finally willing to go up too. They were so sweet sitting with one another.

Benjamin really got into doing the song with these drum sticks....

When they danced around the room at the end, Anna was warmed up enough to go with them even though Benjamin stayed behind. She was so proud of herself as you can see and kept telling me how she did a good job afterwards! :) It was so great for me to see her so happy after feeling so bad for so long.

We were upstairs showing Grandma the kids' rooms all put together when Daddy got home. The kids heard him and Benjamin and Anna went over and sat like this waiting for him to come upstairs. We couldn't resist putting Collin next to them for a picture.

Dave tried to get a close up of Benjamin and Anna and I guess they had had enough with getting their pictures taken and started to fuss. We all laughed when we saw the picture Dave captured and how they looked like they were in jail! hehehe

Collin got much sicker Sunday morning. We had taken him to the Dr. on Thursday and he had an ear infection. We started an antibiotic and he was improving a little each day. Then on Sunday he was so out of it. He slept on us pretty much the entire day and would only wake for a few minutes and then drift back to sleep. He started running a fever again and was breathing fast. We finally decided he needed some attention so we took him the ER. They thought we needed to see what was going on with him to make him sicker as his ears looked like they were improving. They started an IV on him which was an awful thing to have to experience and drew a bunch of blood. They also did a chest x-ray and tested him for the flu and RSV. His chest x-ray showed some viral stuff and she thought that he would have probably ended up with pneumonia like Anna if he hadn't been put on a stronger antibiotic for his ear infection (he doesn't respond to amoxicillin). Everything else came back fine except he tested positive for RSV. Blah! So apparently that's what got Anna sick in the beginning and turned into ear infections and pneumonia for her and an ear infection for Collin. No one has yet to help me to understand how he could have been improving and then get so much sicker from RSV like he has. He continues to to be either sleeping or fussy most of the time and started having vomiting and diarrhea yesterday and today. Thankfully it seems as though his fever broke this morning. I was supposed to take him to get checked again this morning but b/c of the stupid ice storm Dave and I decided it wasn't worth the risk of the drive. If he continues to be so sick tomorrow though, I really really hope the roads are safe enough for me to get him checked out. Dave of course had to take pictures of the poor guy last night. He always wants to document them being sick. The pictures just make me sad!
