Christmas Eve Fun

I think Christmas Eve might just be the best day of the year. It is a day filled with the perfect combination of family time, worship, and Christmas fun like watching the joy on the kids' face as they open their first presents. This year was absolutely wonderful as we spent our first Christmas Eve together as a complete family of six. The kids got to open their one Christmas Eve present....

Collin is super into a new Mickey movie about Mickey and Donald's farm. He only watches one or two things on tv so it's pretty cute to watch him get so excited about this. So his big gift this year was a Mickey Farm set.

Anna was so happy to discover her Doc McStuffin doll, which is her favorite show right now about a girl who can fix all of her toys and brings them to life with her special stethoscope.

We decided to use a science program that studies one subject each year and goes really in depth instead of a small overview of all the science topics. The first one we picked was astrology and Benjamin loves it. So his big present of the year was his very own telescope!

Then we all went into fun play time. The kids love opening boxes and putting things together! I do have to tell one not so happy story though. So I was sitting on the floor while Eva played and helped Collin get his Mickey toy out and put together while Dave was sitting in the chair with Anna working on her Doc doll. The kids love using their safety scissors and so Anna had gotten hers out to help Dave. After they got her toy out, she ran upstairs to get some of her dolls/stuffed animals for Doc to take care of. She left the scissors and Doc on the chair and in the blink of an eye, Collin walked right over grabbed the scissors and cut part of Doc's braid. None of us could believe he did that! Thankfully, Anna handled it well and we were able to use hair spray to get some of the hair to stay down and trimmed the hair that was hanging so it doesn't look too terrible, although we would prefer if the little monkey had left it alone!

Eva wasn't in a present opening mood at the time, so we skipped hers (she couldn't open them anyways!). She's enjoying her paci more and more and uses it to comfort her when she's not happy (which is hardly ever  as she is the sweetest baby) and she can hold it in her mouth for longer periods too. Isn't she adorable! :)

Merry Christmas Eve! (Thanks Grandma for the cool Christmas clothes!)

Later we had such a great time making Santa's cookies. All three kids got really into it and sat and decorated all of the cookies (usually Benjamin and I end up doing all of them but one or two). It was a lot of fun seeing how happy they were being artistic and then we got to enjoy eating one each. We made red velvet with chocolate chips and they were delicious!!

Sisters (and Doc...Anna was so in love with her toy that it rarely left her arms!)

& Brothers

We enjoyed a lovely worship at church that evening. Afterwards, we took advantage of having friends around and got a family picture. Eva was fast asleep on me and this is the moment she woke up and was so confused about what was happening.

All the rest of the tries involved Collin doing this. :)

Collin has his first crush and it's a big one. This is Tierney. She goes to our church and also dances at the same studio as Anna. When her ballet class started this year, she was the helper. Collin would go and watch the whole class and then talk about Tierney all week. We have told her how much he loves her and so she's really sweet to him, which of course he usually becomes super shy and embarrassed. It's really adorable to see! We put our Christmas cards into the shape of a Christmas tree on the wall this year including one from their family. I often find Collin sitting on the ground just looking at Tierney's picture. :)

Benjamin was super excited to see his friends that night and they had fun playing around.

After preparing for Santa and his reindeer, the kids went to bed and Mommy and Daddy really enjoyed some quiet time with our sweet Eva. She is fascinated by wrapping paper!

Santa came!
