On the way home from Wisconsin we decided to make a stop in Chicago as a fun thing to do on Mother's Day. It was a lot of fun even though poor Collin was sick. He felt pretty miserable and seemed to enjoy the long break out of the car. We started off by having some deep dish pizza (which the kids hated, btw! haha).
We passed a comic book store on the way to the restaurant and let the kids go check it out after lunch.
They were fascinated!! I had gotten Benjamin a Marvel book about all their superheros for his birthday that he is in love with and we were able to find a matching one of the DC comics here for him. He's pretty excited because Green Lantern is a new favorite and he's a DC one (that's who they're checking out here).
They all thought this water fountain (building to the left) was pretty cool. It even had pictures displayed on the other side.
Then we went on a long walk through their beautiful park downtown.
We had fun playing with this large statue that was like a distorted mirror.

They had a graduation at this huge outdoor auditorium earlier that day. It was a pretty neat place!
Then we went across this super unique bridge that was quite long.
We found some pretty gardens on the other side of the bridge.
And some funky painted trees.

We were posed so cute here but the sweet lady that was taking our picture took so long to figure out how to push the button all the way down that the kids' smiles had disappeared by then. Oh well.
Anna loved that there were flowers everywhere!
She kept asking me to take her picture with them even just pots of flowers on the street. She's my girly girl!
Despite the unpleasantness of driving with a sick kid in the car (we later found out Collin had hand, foot, and mouth) it was a beautiful way to spend Mother's Day with my family.
